By: Lynn Salsi and Burke Salsi, Jr.
This work was a co-effort of Lynn Salsi and her son, Burke Salsi, Jr., a student at NCSU. It passes the formality and function of the brick and mortar of buildings and gets to the heart of the students, alumni, and educational community. This is the history of North Carolina State University, which had its beginnings as a land grant institution in 1889. It was born out of debate and indecision. Today it is a leading university with a great diversity of degree programs. The development of engineering, textile science, and veterinary science are particularly noted in the book. The 2005 publication date was in time to document the inauguration of the new chancellor, James Oblinger. There is a special section dedicated to the new Centennial Campus.
